In the present issue we publish some researches about the efficacy of air abrasion; the first one was done using the third molar. According to our international referees, third molars extracted for orthodontic reasons or impaction in young patients have a young dentinal tissue comparable, from an histological and structural point of view, with the other permanent teeth found in paediatric patients. Third molars are also ethically used after therapeutic extraction instead of other healthy tooth not easy to obtain.
The second research is a comparative evaluation of different techniques of surface preparation for occlusal sealing: one of them is air abrasion too.
Another therapeutic technique in conservative treatment is illustrated in the case report of epulis treated by laser. This paper discusses the laser treatment of the lesion and emphasises the impact of this technique in Paediatric Dentistry.
Other subjects are the epidemiology of dental caries and malocclusion: the Polish paper is an interesting review of past and present situation; the Syrian paper shows the malocclusion percentage in an East-Mediterranean area.
About malocclusion we present another system to predict evolving malocclusion (ROMA) to substitute or integrate the IOTN: this helps the decision of paediatric dentists to refer the young patient for orthodontic treatment.
In additon an interesting paper is published about changes in the occlusal position of the mandible after TENS relaxing procedure in children with diagnosed functional mandibular lateral deviation.
Finally, we offer to our readers the Guidelines for caries prevention in children worked out by the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry (SIOI) with a consensus group of experts supported by GABA scientific affairs.
We hope the all services and articles will be useful to our readers.
