Title:  Expanding interchanges

Abstract:  The season of international congresses on paediatric dentistry opens. The first is at the end of May in Portugal, where Portuguese and Spanish Paediatric Dental Societies join in an Iberian meeting. In June the EAPD congress in the UK offers to European dentists a great opportunity to meet and exchange their knowledge to benefit child health. In between the two events, the IADT congress in Italy offers to our Journal the opportunity to publish some articles referred to dental traumas in children. The Italian Society has always been interested in the subject, and we are glad to publish four papers as contribution to this important world meeting: predisposing factors to dental trauma, mouthguards for prevention, fragment reattachment and laser treatment. Another international event will be in October in Lebanon, with the meeting of the Mediterranean Societies: European as French, Italian, Spanish, and North African dentists will meet their Lebanon colleagues to increase friendly contacts and exchange experiences. In such international collaboration scenario, let me emphasise the biennial Gallusi Prize, which aims to stimulate the interest of young dentists toward paediatric dentistry; the Prize evaluates any activity dedicated to paediatric dentistry during the last two years. The 7th edition closed in May, and the 8th is now open: we will publish the Prize news in the next issue. The present issue of the Journal also publishes papers on other interesting subjects: child growth and development; oral hygiene in coeliac patients, coming from Greece; influence of lactation from Spain; influence of ectopic canines from Denmark; and a comparison study between different products on microleakage from Turkey. Finally two case reports: one about a rare pathology, useful contribution to proper diagnosis in clinical practice; the other is about clinical damages caused by endodontic treatment in primary dentition.
